Short definitions of the QuoteCore+ and roofing terms you will see in the app.

QuoteCore+ terms

Actual measurement. A real-world number. The opposite of a plan measurement. Pitch is skipped; waste still applies.

Component. A re-usable line you put in quotes. Has a name, measurement type, material price, labor price, waste, and optional pitch settings. See Components overview.

Customer quote. The version of the quote your customer sees. Built from the master quote summary in the customer quote editor.

Digital takeoff. Measuring directly off a digital plan or aerial image. See Digital takeoff.

Extra. A line you want priced and recorded but kept separate from the main components. Skip hire, scaffold, delivery, accommodation. See Components vs Extras.

Labor sheet. The version of the quote your fixers or installers see. Same lines, with labor amounts. See Labor sheet editor.

Main component. A regular component, as opposed to an Extra. Most things you quote are Main.

Manual quote. A quote built line-by-line for trades that do not need takeoff or pitch maths. See Manual quote.

Manual Quote. A quote built using saved components and your own measurements, with no digital plan involved. See Manual Quote.

Plan measurement. A flat number off a roof plan or aerial image, before pitch is applied. See Plan vs Actual.

Quote builder. The four-phase flow that builds a quote: Areas, Components, Extras, Review. See Quote builder.

Quote summary. The master view of a quote. Everything in it, with margins applied. See Quote summary.

Requote. A request from a customer for a fresh quote with changes. Triggered from the customer quote URL. See Sending and acceptance.

Takeoff. The act of measuring a job. Either digital (off a plan) or manual (on site).

Withdrawn quote. A quote you have pulled back. The customer URL still works but tells them the quote is no longer valid. See Withdrawing a quote.

Roofing terms

Barge. The flashing along the gable end of a roof - the angled edge.

Downpipe. The vertical pipe that takes water from the gutter to the ground.

Fascia. The horizontal board (often metal) along the eaves where the gutter mounts.

Fixings. Screws, nails, clips, brackets - anything that holds materials in place.

Gutter / Spouting. The horizontal channel along the eaves that catches roof water.

Hip. The external angle where two roof slopes meet, running from ridge to eave.

Longrun. Long-length metal roofing iron, run from ridge to eave in a single sheet.

Rafter pitch. The pitch type for the main roof slope. Covers tiles, longrun, underlay.

Ridge. The horizontal line at the top of the roof where two slopes meet. Also the flashing that covers it.

Underlay. The membrane laid under the roofing material for water protection.

Valley. The internal angle where two roof slopes meet, running from ridge to gutter.
