Components vs Extras

Both behave the same for pricing. The split is about how the quote reads.

Components vs Extras

Every line in a quote is either a Main component or an Extra. Both behave the same for pricing. The split is about how the quote reads and how you organise your library.

Main components

The materials and labor that make up the core of the job. For a roof: tiles, longrun, ridges, valleys, fixings, underlay, install labor. Almost everything you quote will be a Main component.

Extras

A flexible second bucket for things you want priced and recorded but separated from the main job lines. Useful for:

  • One-off items the customer did not initially request, but you want to offer them as an option with a separate price.
  • Labor extras (overtime, dangerous-site allowance).
  • Delivery, accommodation, skip hire, site cleanup.
  • Items you want to record on the quote but hide from the customer view.

You can also use Extras for material or labor multipliers, or anything you want to keep separate from the main quote summary for your own records.

How they differ in the UI

In the quote builder you add Main components first, then Extras in the next phase. On the customer quote you can hide or show either independently, and you can hide the price on any single line.

You can leave Extras empty on most quotes. They are there when you need them.
